Kexin Zheng was raised in Fujian, China, until age of twelve she then moved to United States of America. “Xia Yi Zhan Cai Hong” (“Dreams of Colors”), the drama show from Hong Kong had deeply inspired her to become a fashion designer, she wanted to be like them, they sketches, drapes, and scattered around for production; at the end the satisfaction for seeing their designs worn on others is fulfilling to her.

After she graduated from High School, she started off in a two-year community college. Instead of following her dream as a fashion designer, she took her mother’s advice and majored in Chemistry for a more secured career. After two years of studying Chemistry, she had found herself lack of interest in this field; therefore she transferred to Savannah College of Art and Design for a Fashion Design major. While she studies in SCAD she had few intern experiences, first she interned with +FRESH.i.AM+, positioned in sample room assistant. She participated in the process of production (sample making, helping with designing process while in production, and assisting in final product producing). Later, she interned with BCBGMAXAZRIA in sweater department.

Kexin Zheng had once considered herself as a minimalist designer, but after years of trying to figure out who she was, she concluded herself as a modern designer who desires for futuristic/sporty/minimal/functionality. She enjoys the look of menswear on women, the reveal of the relaxation element. She loves minimal designs with a random component, and that randomness was considered as a pop. Kexin likes clean looks but she’s obsess with designs contain a story; Designs can be minimal, but what’s important is to have designs comprehended with souls. A successful design need to make the person feel like what they wanted to feel, look like how they wanted to look, always with a story that can leads up to themselves, and being a connection to the wearer.
